Chick-fil-A is using drone technology to have a cutting-edge competitive benefit over all other fast food chains in the US. this initiative is allowing the fast food chain to generate more revenue from its drive-thrus than any of its competitors. As per the reports of the Wall Street Journal.
Surpassing McDonald’s Drive-thru Revenue
According to QSR magazine, Chik-fil-A surpassed the most famous fast-food giant McDonalds. In 2023, Chick-fil-A achieved the highest drive-thru sales revenue compared to all other fast-food chains in the country, standing at whooping 21 billion dollars.
How Are they Utilizing Drone Technology?
After the game study and reports from the film studies unit of the chain, it was decided that the drones would be used to maximize efficiency and customer experience in the drive-thrus of the fried chicken chain. Chick-fil-A uses drones to identify bottlenecks and address them to enhance efficiency.
The new Atlanta branch provides service exclusively through drive-thru operations because it lacks seating areas but maintains a kitchen space with four points of contact on its upper level that serves 700 vehicles per hour.
Why there was a Need to Integrate Technology?
The growth of car-friendly dining services has led McDonald’s to launch CosMc’s Chipotle and Shake Shack to establish extra drive-up lanes to respond to increased demand. Customer orders at U.S. fast-food drive-thrus account for 43% of the total business while 27% of ordered food gets consumed in vehicles before the customer leaves according to Circana’s data. Hence, encouraging fast-food chains like Chick-fil-A to leverage technology to enhance its efficiency and drive-thru service experience.
